Getting Started

Need an article, paper, or presentation cleaned up?

We edit more than books.

Let us know what you’re working on, and we’ll help you polish it until it gleams.

Quick Navigation

What do you want to learn more about?

Step One.

The Discovery Call.

Your editor will sit with you for an hour—via web conference—to discuss your project and the way you want to present it. We’ll review your overall vision regarding tone, genre, audience, point-of-view, and a potential schedule for completion.

Once your reservation for a Discovery Call has been received, we will contact you via email with confirmation details.

At the end of the Discovery Call, we will provide instructions for project submission.

(The Discovery Call is free with no obligation.)

Step Two.

First-Round Edits.

You submit a digital copy of your project verbiage to us, and we go through it with a fine-toothed comb. We track our changes—redlining any in-line recommendations we see fit—and utilize margin comments to go into greater detail where we feel additional explanation of our suggestions is necessary.

We are by no means experts in all subjects and may require clarification on certain topics to make clearer suggestions, either during or after this round of edits. To this end, we will request a contact who can provide answers as necessary to help us better understand your project or business.

Once we’re done, we return this edited version of the verbiage to you, and you go through it, change by change, to clean it up the way you want it, based on our edits and suggestions.

Optional.

Additional Editing.

Please Note:

Projects that require substantial changes during the First-Round Edits stage may require an additional round of editing, rewriting, and revising.

The decision of whether to embark on this additional, paid round of editing will be jointly made by the company representative and the editor prior to final delivery of the finished project verbiage.

Step Three.

Revisions.

After reviewing our suggestions, if you wish for us to make any revisions to our work (i.e. – based on subject matter clarity or restrictions inherent in your business, etc.), you may submit a written (emailed) list of your requests for our review*.

(If required, we will set up a call to review these in greater detail or simply reply with any follow-up questions.)

Step Four.

Deliverables.

When we are done with all revisions, we will deliver the edited version of the project verbiage to you for your review. Barring any small, last-minute tweaks, this verbiage will be ready for your implementation.

Please Note:

Terms.

Non-book projects (like presentations, speeches, articles, white papers, website verbiage, etc.) follow pricing by project size, as outlined in the Pricing section. All Prices in USD.

Special Projects will be edited for verbiage content only and will not be reformatted for presentation value (like restructuring or building slideshows, adding pictures to reports, etc.). Interest in special project formatting services like these may be discussed during the Discovery Call and may be considered and priced on a case-by-case basis.

Special Project deliverables will not include ISBNs, art, or 3D renderings, as with book editing.

All verbiage must be submitted in MS Word for PC environments. We use Track Changes for editorial notes and suggestions. Code compliance issues may arise when crossing over from MS Word to other writing program environments (like Google) or from PC to Apple or Linux environments. HB Ink, LLC, is not responsible for the creation of crossover issues or the repair of those issues.

HB Ink, LLC, reserves the right to terminate projects with written notice and explanation and without refunding payment or providing further service.

What If I Need Other Editorial Services?

We offer those!

One-Round Edits.

Just want a single-pass proofread of your project rather than full-service, multi-round editing?

We can do that!

The Timeline

We understand the importance of maintaining momentum.

You will receive a projected completion date during our Discovery Call to better facilitate your ability to plan your launch and marketing programs.

Special Projects.

The average turn-around time to complete a special (non-book) project is approximately two to four weeks (depending on word counts, complexity, editor availability, and writer’s correction turn-around).
